Kirtlington Fete
Aug 10th, 2010 | By Ken Marshall | Category: Club ActivitiesThis summer the Club was invited to attend and give a demonstration of metal detecting on the 10th July at Kirtlington Village Fete'.
There was a good turn out for the event.
Even better the weather stayed good and we didn't experience any windy weather which might have played havoc with our gazebo fixings.
We got there before the start and set up the stand and added some display cases at the front so we could show off our finds in a professional way.
[pullquote]The display cases had our accumulated finds of artefacts and coins club members had found over the years in the Oxfordshire countryside.[/pullquote]
There was a good interest throughput the day with many people marveling at the finds displayed.
We were asked a lot of questions by young and old alike.
Adults and children were shown how to operate the detectors and really enjoyed trying them out in the field where the fete was held.
Quite a few coins were found around our stand to the delight of the children and adults alike.
I'm hoping that it wasn't due to the hole in my trouser pocket!
I would like to say a big thank you to those who helped organise the visit, help with the setting up of our gazebo HQ and man the desks!
All in all it was a good day promoting our hobby.
The Club has had an invitation from Tony Summerfield the Kirtlington Fete organiser to attend next years Fete on July 9th which we have accepted.
