Found by John Catt on a dig at Littleworth in 2011. A Medieval silver finger ring dating from c. AD 1200-1350. The ring is a single hoop with no join visible and with a rectangular cross section. Around the external circumference of the band is the inscription +A+G+L+A. This is an abbreviation for a popular charm against fever during the Middle Ages, and derives from the Hebrew ‘Ata gibor le’olam Adonai’ (‘You are mightly forever, O Lord’). There are a number of artefacts with the same inscription recorded on the database including SUR-099F44 and DOR-B80705

Here's the photos of the guano seal and the Netherlands cent - having scanned it it looks like 1834 rather 1884 so would fit in with the date of the seal.

I had one of those too. I was trying to decipher the very faint writing and couldn't believe that it said Peruvian guano but it obviously did. Also found a nice George V shilling and sixpence, a Netherlands cent from 1884, a "Spratts Kind Dog" tag (apparently quite collectible - last one on e-bay went for about £14), plus assorted fishing weights, buttons, musket balls etc so quite a good session I thought.
